This painting is from Kathiyawaar India, circa mid 19th century. Reverse glass painting is originally a European style of art. It reached India in the 19th century via Indo-Chinese trade routes.
This painting depicts a bejeweled courtesan seated near a window, combing her hair. She is seated bare-chested, wearing white pajamas. The courtesan was a popular motif in reverse glass paintings because they were often seated in royal throne rooms.
